Beyond The Vale

The year is 2064 and the world has changed greatly in the past half century. In the early part of the millennium the world was beginning to recognize rights of more people, of smaller groups, and those who had been living on the fringe. Equality had become more than just a buzzword or a vague hope for the future.

It started in a small town called Rising Falls on the coast of Washington state, a touristy town tucked in a vale between the ocean and the mountains. As pollution and climate change continued to threaten the oceans, forests, air, and basic quality of life of the humans, another group decided it was time to make their existence known and use the paths already forged by others to finally fight for their own equality. Out from behind the veil of secrecy and mystery came not vampires and werewolves like so much pop culture references would predict, but creatures of myth and legend. Nicknamed "Mythicals", elves, pixies, unicorns, minotaurs, and many other species of lore would make themselves known, first in the vale and then across the United States and the world. Councils formed to represent these new species and equality fought for.

Now over sixty years later Rising Falls has settled back into it's small tourist town feel, the main Council having moved to D.C. while leaving a small local one in it's steed. Rising Falls is still remembered for being the birthplace of mythological equality, but now has turned it's focus more inward as it struggles with it's own growing pains and internal battles.
